Oftentimes the placement of one treatment in your Forward Works Programme (FWP) will always require the placement of a subsequent treatment in the following years. For example, in New Zealand road construction, a second-coat reseal (also known as a Birthday Seal) is required one year after a road rehabilitation/reconstruction occurs. In JunoViewer, this is referred to as a follow-up treatment.

In the JunoViewer Forecast Model, follow-up treatments are set in the Treatments worksheet of the Deterioration Model Setup (DMS) file. In a row titled Follow-Up Treatments, in the column of the treatment for which you want to assign a subsequent treatment, enter the follow-up treatment name and number of years after which to assign it. The format required is as follows:

Follow-up Treatment Name;Number of years after which to assign

To specify more than one follow-up treatments (i.e. a treatment strategy), you can delineate different follow-up treatments with a Pipe ("|") delimiter. So for example, if a treatment called "RHAB" should be followed by another called "Reseal" the year after, followed again by a treatment called "SMA" seven years after "RHAB", you can specify it as follows:

Reseal;1|SMA;7

Note that the number of years to wait for the follow-up treatment is always relative to the triggered treatment, and not to the previous follow-up treatment.

The images below shows an example of a single follow-up treatment, both the setup in the DMS file and the results in the Forecast View:

Additional Notes:
  • A follow-up treatment will only be assigned if the model is configured to trigger treatments.
  • Follow-up treatments will not be assigned after Committed Treatments, but only after treatments triggered by the model
  • Follow-up treatments have to be listed as one of the model Treatments
